This picture was taken in my own backyard. It was a nice surprise. I had been going to a Bible Study where we had talked about God giving us a "delight" in our life. We prayed that sometime during the following week He would give each of us our "delight". I waited all week. I waited and waited for that moment. I was beginning to lose hope. But the morning of my study I went out to take pictures of the flowers in my yard. Out of the corner of my eye, something caught my attention and I turned and snapped my camera. Not really even sure what I was taking a picture of or if it would turn out. I knew it was moving and was probably a bird. I was pretty excited when I looked at my camera and saw this hummingbird. There it was, my delight from God! Every time I look at this picture it reminds me of God's love for me.

Night Out
So last night my husband and I decide to go out for supper. We even made reservations because we know how hard it can be to get into this place. We hadn't been there for a couple of years and really liked it last time. They have an excellent reputation for great food.
We arrive fifteen minutes before our reservation and were seated right away. They're not too busy, but they haven't been open long either. While we are waiting the table behind us is seated. Next thing I see is this table getting their drinks and orders taken. Wait a minute....weren't we here first? I mention this to my husband. Okay, not a big deal. But then they get their food. It's been close to half and hour and we don't even have our drinks. The same waitress who waited on them is our waitress and has walked by our table several times now.
Okay, so my husband and I are pretty easy going but are starting to think of walking out and going to Taco Bell. Just about then I see our waitress look at us and tilt her head in surprise as I say "Yes, we are still waiting!" She apologizes profusely and offers us free appetizers which we politely refuse because we can't eat that much food. Little did we know we weren't going to get that much food anyway.
She takes our food orders and we find out they are out of lettuce for the salad that comes with my meal. But not to worry, they've sent someone to the grocery store to get more. We also find out during the course of things they are out of their special of prime rib. Keep in mind they've only been open an hour and a half and they are not that busy. My husband and I are getting a good laugh at all this because this could only happen to us.
In the meantime our food arrives. All that is on my plate is the meat I ordered. My husband gets his full meal, a sandwich and cold french fries. We eat our food and I must admit my steak was delicious.
Now we're finished with our food. She comes to take our plates away and informs us the salad is here. I tell her not to bother because I'm full anyway and we have been sitting here an hour and a half by now. She tells us the meal is on the house because of all the issues we've had. We're pretty happy about that and are thinking "it should be on the house!" All is well that ends well.
Except...
On the way home I start to feel sick. I feel I could be sick from either end. We are probably fifteen minutes from home yet. I tell my husband to please hurry. I need to get home before I do get sick. Fortunately, we make it home before I get sick, but I have to run into the house and straight to the bathroom. I'm sick the rest of the night.
Now I don't know much about food poisoning. I didn't know that it could happen so quickly. Maybe it can't and maybe the timing is just a coincidence. I don't know, but it'll be awhile before we go back to that restaurant!

Monday's picture
I'm thinking Monday will be picture day. I'll post a favorite or recent picture I've taken. I should be able to do this for years. I have taken many, many pictures over the years that I'm pretty proud of. I think this love of photography started on my first visit to Oregon to visit my dad. I took 12 rolls of film on that visit. Oregon is so beautiful, so it wasn't hard to take great pictures. I wish I could post some of those, but that was 20 years ago, before I had a digital camera. Maybe I should make another trip to Oregon!

This picture was taken about 3 years ago in Macon, Missouri while on vacation. This is one of my husband's favorites as well as mine. I'm sure most people don't think Missouri when they think vacation, but it is really beautiful there and I'm hoping we make a trip there again this summer. . There will be a few more pictures from this vacation I'm sure.

5 Senses Friday
I did this last week and thought it was fun. So here we go again. I might just do it every Friday because I love blogging even though I have few followers. Maybe someday...
Seeing:
the sun! it's not out much these days, so everyday it's out you realize how much you miss it.
Hearing:
the washer and dryer run all day.
Feeling:
closed off. cabin fever has set it. this has been one of the longest winters I can remember.
Smelling:
cleaning supplies as I clean my house today.
Tasting:
a great salad I made for lunch. And I'm really looking forward to the potato soup I will make for supper. (I keep typing summer instead of supper. Guess I'm longing for warmer weather more than I thought)

5 senses Friday
I saw this on another blog and thought it might be fun. They recommended others give it a try.
Tasting:
I love the taste of ice cold pepsi , even though it's a habit I should quit.
Smelling:
pork meatballs cooking in the oven. It's been a long time since I mad
e this and it smells good!
Feeling:
my feet slip on all the ice we've had the last couple of days. I had to take the dogs out and couldn't find any traction
Hearing:
the ice covered tree
limbs moving in the wind. sounds kinda menacing
Seeing:
the dense fog and ice covering everything
